I believe that CEF’s like micro and small cap’s offer some core advantages to a disciplined small investor. Many have nearly all institutional investors, but are very thinly traded. Most of the managers don’t beat their benchmarks when leverage and beta is removed. At least not in the studies I’ve read.
However, the ‘asset class’ offers some core advantages. Basic ‘discount’ buying strategies have been studied back to the 1940’s for example.
So…the more tools you can give us in this space, the better.
