I am an engineer by training, but have had senior positions in technical marketing and was Series 7 licensed in the financial industry at one point in my career. My career started writing software for banks in Florida. I have also tutored college statistics as a sideline. I applied custom software including genetic algorithms, neural networks, and fuzzy logic as well as traditional numerical analysis and statistical modeling techniques to establish product growth projections for much of my career. I use R and Python rigorously to establish and validate models. I retired early and am enjoying applying some of the modeling techniques I used in industry to the stock market. I subscribe to a lifestyle of continuous education and have attended graduate and undergraduate courses at Iowa State University, Florida State University, Syracuse University and the University of Texas and non-credit courses at Coursera.

Investment Style
I use the bucket style of investing. For buckets I plan to access early in my retirement, preservation of capital is paramount. The buckets I plan to tap last are positioned for absolute growth. The buckets between vary between the two extremes. The models you see from me are used in one of my buckets. I tend to sacrifice growth for consistency. I can see how to make the Portfolio 123 metrics look better, but when validating the model, I inevitably sacrifice return for consistency.
