Actual realized gains/loss for tax

Is there a way to see for live trading the actual realized gains or loss for each stock for a period of time. Similar to what we have in sims?

I am asking that as I might have to track all of that for tax reasons (if held more or less than 6 months and with how much actual gain or loss). It would be easier to do that on Portfolio123 rather than Interactive Brokers.

I would not rely on P123 to do my taxes. But it is actually a nice way to track it because as for German tax law, at least live P123 strats get the currency question right (IBKR statements don't)

Yes, need it in Euros also. How do you do then? Everything manually?

Yes :face_holding_back_tears:

Nightmare. Funny thing: I am currently doing it. (Having my transactions spreadsheet open on my other monitor right now)

Best of luck.

Not my first rodeo, I automized at least the currency recalculation, transaction P/L and doublechecking with a template, still a lot of preparation and relabeling necessary by hand. I hope I will find the strength next year to code a tool for full automatization.

Most people just give the vanilla IBKR statement to their tax advisor at "Dude Trust Me and Partners", who then puts his name under it, collects his few hundred bucks and files it for you, even though the numbers are totally incorrect (especially in years like 2025 when currencies go mayham)...

I opened the box of Pandora, so I want to do it right (and not get some unpleasant surprise in the future).

Using IB?

Just putting this here if an Aussies are here. https://unip.com.au/ gets an auto feed from IB and then prepares everything at year end for a small fee. Deals with currency gains/losses as well. Highly recommend and there is noting else in Australia that does it correctly.
Just a happy user.

After some research, I believe that the following could work. One creates a live strategy starting starting earlier than the actual transactions. The live strategy should have any transaction (buy rule at 0 from the sim or just one stock to then be deleted). Then one goes to transactions into the live portfolio and import all buy, sell and split transactions done (after downloading them on the trade system). Then by going into transactions, we can see all realized transactions with costs, proceeds, etc.). Next steps for people in euros would be to import in an excel and adjust cost and proceeds with relevant currency rates (I do not think that we can have the Trade system with another currency than dollar, but I might be wrong). Finally one selects all the relevant transactions to disclose to tax authorities or whoever. Issue it seems that some tickers are not recognized. Anyone would know why? (for e.g. it says "Cannot resolve ticker NAGE")

If I changed by NAGE:USA it worked.
