Since Yuval's is not included, it might be good to set the goal at the top to $115,000 so people that come to this page for the first time don't already think it's been met.
I agree, at a quick glance without reading the thread no one is going to pledge as it looks done. It was certainly news to me that Yuval's amount is not being counted ![]()
Well, meeting the goal surely didn't stop backers to pledge $1M for these "AI glasses" that had a $20K goal! We also have AI/ML which could be used for Asian stocks. Where's the excitement? Perhaps we're just lousy at marketing.
Having said that, we will add Asia at some point. And maybe it will be very profitable like this P123 European model. But Europe did not translate into a huge revenue boost for us. We think there are better places to focus on right now than adding data that very few want.
Summary of statutory withholding dividends tax and transaction tax from Degiro. This is not a problem since the average TT would be close to ~0.1%.
I subscribed to European equities. I'm also interested in Asia and I guess that there are more people 'potentially' interested.
The minimum amount of pledge maybe too high for some users.
Hi @marco,
I use the European data, because it is nice to have some sort of 'out-of-sample' test after modeling on US data. However, the major benifit for the European data in general would probably be if users could actually easily connect to a broker like we can with US data.
I have the hypothesis that 'offering European' would lead to much more revenues if it opens up the possibility to, not only easily test, but to easily test Γ‘nd trade European stocks through the P123 platform. Hence, after broker connectivity, there might very well be a change in the ROI priority list you mentioned.
Of course, this could be some wishful thinking from my side, as I am definitely one of the few users that would prefer broad data access over some of the other implementations.
I revised the terms of this project to
- Include a 20% bump for your pledge in the terms
- More cheaper options for the pledge
- Slightly different terms
Unfortunately the poll gets reset with any changes, so you will need to recast your pledge (not entirely a bad thing since the info is quite old).
We are looking for two things: wider support and exceeding the goal. We'll also do an email campaign to reach the many users that do not read the forums.
Thanks for your feedback.
Tks Marco, good idea. I have included again my 5k pledge, but I intend to go to 7.5k (I cannot cast more than one vote).
Guys, let's make it happen!
@marco, will the implementation of this sponsored project also include support for trading of the new Asian/Emerging markets via linked IBKR accounts on day one or shortly after launch? I'm willing to pledge more if that's the case as this feature will make adopting the new markets much easier, to @Victor1991's point above.
We have reached 30k (my 2.5k extra pledge is the messages). Around 1/3 or 1/4 of total. Where are the other guys that have pledged before? Please show up!
I will send them an email
Yes. We're working on enabling trading Canada and Europe right now, Asia should be easy after that.
Looking forward to this!
Changed my 2k pledge to 5k.
Likewise. Would be great to get this through!
That is great @victorass and @trendyist!! We had some good progress, still far from the goal, but getting there!
Have you heard back from the guys who pledged before?
I think I pledged in the early days of the announcement but am not sure. How do I check to see?
Thanks
Just click on "Mar 2024" on the scrollbar in the right to go back to the first post . Then click on results to see who pledged. Your name does not appear there. You should be able to pledge again.
Totals are still disappointing. We will try to muster support by sending a mass email.
Thanks
NOTE: The terms were updated. The text in bold was added: "... your pledge will go towards your future data costs and include a 20% discount as long as the Asian data is included in your membership.
I am not sure how many are already aware of this, but it's worth noting that there is a fair bit of Asian (and Australian) data in P123 through the German foreign primary market. In order to access it, select: Europe Incl. Foreign Primary as the base universe, and turn off all volume thresholds, because these trade on an illiquid, presumably market-maker driven German exchange. Of course, no one needs to buy the stocks on this exchange specifically, they can be bought on the Tokyo Exchange, the SEHK, ASX, etc, so the liquidity there is not a concern. To isolate Asian stocks specifically, just use country filters.
Without analyst data, volume data, and with limited years coverage it's missing some critical pieces compared to what we're pledging for here, so is by no means a proper replacement. Personally I haven't found much use for it with these limitations, but it may still prove interesting for some, especially as this exchange covers a good 1000+ Asian/Australian equities.
Just to clarify one thing Asia and Emerging Markets will be treated together in the membership? My main interest is in Emerging Markets. But it is okay if the are bundled together. Tks.
Factset only has three regions. So yes, emerging is in the Asia package AFAIK
