With so many features on Portfolio123 (which is awesome), including AI, I see a need for independent coaches.
Yes, we have 1-on-1 support calls but this ties up valuable resources (not to mention cost that needs to be passed onto the membership base).
We have some tutorials for basic entry-level use. But numerous people have been approaching me and asking about an hourly paid coaching arrangement. They see the value of Portfolio123, but the learning curve is so steep that they get frustrated and cancel the membership.
My suggestion is that we have a database of high quality pro-users of Portfolio123 who are willing to coach new users for best practices.
For instance, Carlos Morales has his Masters and wrote an interesting paper on using AI and factor selection. His personal portfolio did incredible last year (triple digit returns) and he employs a logical and academically sound approach to avoid over-fitting, robustness checking, factor selection as well as AI factor techniques which I would say 99.5% of the people using it do not use. He bills out at $100 per hour which I feel is very reasonable if you book an hour a month with him ongoing.
I know P123 has a consultant branch for model development - but we need something more like a coaching platform to teach you the best way to use P123 and avoid all the pitfalls that are common among new users.
Any thoughts? I do think that the coach should have certain qualifications as there is a difference between someone who has made a few good models and knows the platform well vs. someone with a higher level understanding of fundamental principles on model building and robustness checking.
