Designer Model marketplace upgrades

Project

Designer Models 2.0 are like fine wine and only get better with age. Below are 3 proposed improvements. Let us know if there are other ideas to help you bring more subscribers to your models.

  • Add a way to invite specific users to a model.

  • Allow for discretionary decisions. Emails are sent out to subscribers before the market opens (no day-trading).

  • Increase number of models that can be launched by a Designer.

Your Pledge (goal $2,500)

As some of you may have noticed, I really enjoy diving into and analyzing different DMs. So you might ask — why haven’t I launched my own DM yet?

The honest answer: it’s still unclear whether I would need to be a registered investment advisor under EU regulations. Probably not — but the legal gray area makes it hard to be sure.

That’s why I’ve been thinking — could Portfolio123 introduce a structure that makes it easier (and safer) for users to offer their own models?

One idea is a “white-labeled” or umbrella model setup, where:

  • P123 publishes the model under its own name/license,
  • Users act only as model developers or research providers,
  • No direct interaction with investors is required.

This could open the door for more international creators to contribute without the regulatory burden. Curious to hear others’ thoughts — especially if you've looked into similar options.
