Full Risk until Questions answered experiment :-)

Well guys, first trade is in the red, but vola is normal with a 1 Stock Systemā€¦

Andreas,

sorry, I donā€™t want you to disclose private matters - but I am not sure if you donā€™t feel like answering or if you have simply overlooked my question:

How do you manage to trade this system at such a high turnover?
Do you use FolioFN or any other ā€œflatrateā€ broker?

Arenā€™t trading costs killing you? How much do you pay per trade?
Do you trade from abroad or do you have a depot in the USA?

Thanks for any reply - and sorry for bothering if you feel that itā€™s private.

Best,
fips

Sorry Fips, I did overlook your question, no Problem, happy to answerā€¦

I use (since 2001) tradestation e.g. I use the following fee structure:

Stocks & ETF Pricing

Perā€“Share Commission1

1Ā¢

per share up to 500 shares

0.6Ā¢

per share thereafter

I use that Price in the simulations I run.
No trading costs are not killing, they are fine (also in the 3 Month 100 Stock Model I use, execution is also good with tradestation).

I have a Dollar account with Tradestation USA, fortunatly the Dollar got stronger the last yearā€¦

I tried Interactive Brokers but I just love the user Interface of tradestation, easy to trade.

Andreas

OK, here we go, the model reacts:

I am Out of MAG with -18% (e.g. the modell has now a dd of -18%, since it only has one stock (actually I try to get a better sell price and I got a better buy price, but lets stick to what the model calculates) and try to get into GCAP with a limit order as of this trading morning.

Regards

Andreas

filled buy order GCAP @ 8.28
Sell order Mag still open, still try to get a better price, hope it does not break downā€¦

Judgetrade - I appreciate the fact you are publishing your evaluation. I have one comment: I thought the idea was to determine what you get in real life using various trade entry methods for low liquidity stocks. It seems as if you are using discretion in this study (ā€œI try to get a better sell priceā€). Did you define a plan for evaluating the different trade mechanisms, and are you carefully following it?

Steve

Steve, I can not trade the open (though it simulates the best Performance), I have do (limit!) trade between the open and the close, in between the open and the Close I try to get a good fill.

Though it did not work yesterday, Price for MAG closed almost at the low of the day, sold MAG for 35.19

Drawdown with MAG around 20%ā€¦

Just got to Chicago! What a beautifull city (at least downtown, the rest I did not see so far!).

Took the train from the airport to the city (helping hands everywhere!) and then 2 guys walked 2 Miles me from the train station
to my hotel (they had to go to a different direction). Super friendly! I am the biggest german
USA fan there is, it feels great to be here again, Wunderbar!!! I love it!!!

Andreas

Andreas,

Did the two guys keep your luggage? I like Chicago, but only in the Summertime. California has spoiled me.

But, be careful in American cities. I lived in them most of my life. There are a lot of nice people, but there are also a lot of predators especially at night, and in certain areas. Iā€™ve seen a lot of armed robberies and shoot-outs. And I love America, but itā€™s not the safest place in the world.

Anyway, have fun. Iā€™m off to Boston in a few days and then NYC for 2 weeks off. I need it.

Best,
Tom

Have fun in Chicago!

Donā€™t let your single stock portfolio or any other economic turmoil spoil your vacations.

I am sure Andreas was able to keep his luggage, or at least I hope.

Best,
fips

Fips, thank you, it is great!

Tom, lol, Yes I did not get robbed. From what I heard and read downtown area is pretty secure and due to the
Jet lag I am in bed at 8 pm

Yes Winter is not the best time, but in the Summer time I go on vacation with my Kids and wife (Kids are
too small for a citiy vacation) and I just did not see Chicago (I have seen Boston, Minneapolis, Phoenix, San Francisco,
some smaller Cities in Utah, Denver, Boulder, Miami).

New York I did not see as well, but my wife said she wants to see this with me together, so now you know who is the Boss at home!!!

And I wanted to see some Paintings of Edward Hopper, will see them todayā€¦ Looking Forward.

Best Regards

Andreas

Judge,

Are you going to visit P123 while in Chicago? They office there. You might be able to pick up some tidbits about future updates from Marco and pass them on to members.

Andreas,

Stay North of McCormick Place, East of Lasalle st, be in your hotel by midnight, do not walk around drunk, keep your wallet in your front pocket, and avoid conversations with ā€œstreet peopleā€ and you should be fine.

I hope that you have a nice visit.

Scott

Got out with GCAP at 8.99 (lucky enough about 5.88% better then the system because GCAP rallied after the open).

And just bought TNK at 4.75.

Regards
Andreas

Andreas,

thanks for your regular updates!

Do you use a live port to track your experiment or (due to slippage or rather loosely tracking the port) do you have your own excel spreadsheet with a graph?

It would be more fun to follow your experiment if you could provide a (brief) history of your transactions or a performance graph.

I hope you continue to have good luck with your port and have fun in Chicago!

Best,
fips

Denny: No I was not at the Office of P123, I might have passed it since it is in the financial district.
Scott: Thank you!!! I was in the Hotel by 08:00 p.m., I did almost everything by feet and lost 2 Kilos.
Highlight was the Chicago Institute of Art, finally saw Nighthawks from Edward Popper, unbelivable (they got ā€œeverythingā€, Monet, Manet, Lichtenstein, O Koffee, Demuth, Dali, Wood, Koons, etc. etc. I will be definitly back!

Fips: OK, I will as soon there is an amount of transactions that is big enough (> 20)ā€¦

TNK going well so farā€¦

Andreas

Andreas,

Happy New Year to you!

Has the turn of the year been too busy for you to keep reporting or have you stopped doing your one stock experiment?

I am eager to hear the news

Best,
fips

Hi Fips,

no still trading itā€¦

The System was Long TNK, I managed +7% on the Position (+700 Dollar, I upgraded my betting size!)
Then the System was Long INTL and I lost around 4%

Now the System is Long SIGM (Flat right now, I was lucky since i bought it later as the System suggested since I was on the roadā€¦

SIGM 1550 @ 6.85

Though it has not much to do with the System Performance, since I trade between Monday morning and Tuesday evening due
to other activity (like working). But I will still trade it with 10k.

To summ it up:-6% DD right now, the System is slightly better (around -3%).

Experiance right now: Volume for 10k is great, Ask and Bids tick down, but with 0.2% - 0.3% Slippage I get easy in and out.

Regards

Andreas

Exit SIGM Small Los of -1,15% (Limit Order at the Ask, took 2 Minutes to get hit)

Long GCAP 1250 STocks @ 8.40 (Limit Order at the ask, was hit right away (enough liquidity at the ask).

Regards
Andreas

I picked up 300 SIGM @ 6.39 today. Will see how they will do while I am on skiing vacation next week

Andreas,

I got some ideas off the ski slopes and came up with the below sim. I try to proof that it is possible to get a high performance with a smaller than 1000% annual turnover. One buy rule, one sell rule, a 10-factor ranking system and no market timing; variable slippage & next average of high and low as transaction price.

What do you think? Any chance for you to have a similar medium-turnover model?

Cheers,
Florian
