Global data launching this week in production — free for 30 days

Dear All,

We are getting ready to launch global data in production this weekend. There should only be minimal disruptions. This is phase 1 of our global project:

  1. Pre-global release - done!
  2. Global Phase 1 - this week
  3. Global Phase 2 - Dec 2026
  4. Global Phase 3 - Q1 2027

Key Points for Phase 1

  • This is a beta release. We uncovered some peculiarities in the Asian data that we still need to address. Biggest issues is missing cash flow data for several APAC countries. See below for more details.
  • Global data will free until November 30 2026. Anyone with a paying subscription will be able to access all three regions. For example if you have the Backtest membership for US & Canada you will have access to Backtest for Global data at no extra cost.
  • API and AI factor will be enabled for all regions

Phase 2

We will resolve several things that would have delayed launching something useful for another month. Key things we will address:

  • Missing cash flow for several countries. This is seems to be country specific, for example see Nintendo in Japan, where companies are allowed to release the cashflow statement semi-annually if they choose to, but with income and balance sheet quarterly. This produces Frankenstatements made up of quarterly data and semi-annual data, something we never saw before. We think we have an elegant solution and will try to release it ASAP.
  • Recover inactive stocks that disappeared due to the new security master we released. It mostly has to do with stocks that changed primary issue, or moved their primary issue to a different region.
  • Daily updates will run three times a day instead of twice daily.

Phase 3

  • Add missing ownership data for Europe and APAC & Emerging
  • Recognize non-primary issues in holdings of a strategy, and associate them to the primary issue in rebalances.
  • Many little optimization

Let us know of any questions

Cheers.

I--and I assume others--have built some screens and universes in the beta site. Will we have a chance to copy them to the production site, or does the beta site disappear as soon as APAC stocks appear on the production site? I can't copy them now because they use base universes that don't exist in production.

Yes beta will stay functional for at least two more weeks, maybe more unless we need the hardware for something else.

Marco, what is the plan for linked IBKR trading support for APAC/Emerging?

No specific plan. We need to get this launched first. It works in Europe, no? So it should work in APAC.

Of course it's far from ideal because IB algos don't work in Europe, right? So I assume they will not work in Asia. In addition, since we lack real time data, it's still very laborious to enter multiple orders.

After Asia we're going to hopefully address the execution side of things. The goal is to enable 1 click rebalance regardless of how many stocks are being bought/sold. To make a compelling execution product we need to:

  • Add more brokers
  • Global real time (delayed probably enough)
  • 1-click rebalance
  • Create our own simple execution algos (like limit orders that are adjusted throughout the day)

With the list above it should be possible to remove a lot of the friction with the execution side of things. The benefit for us is that if we provide an elegant solution for execution it is a very sticky use-case, and should improve user retention.

Thanks

IB does support algos for most European equities markets, with some exceptions for smaller ones like Lithuania, etc. I know they also support algos for some Asian markets like Australia, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.

But to your point, the value for P123<->IBKR integration is significant, regardless of whether algos are supported or not, as it makes it far easier to trade live p123 strategies (allocate capital, generate orders, track per-strategy performance, etc.) even if one has to submit vanilla limit orders.
