How to reconcile these 2 returns

I performed a backtest on the Dow with no ranking, I am looking at the 3rd period with 1.02% Return. What is this number? If I click on the period I see the returns for all 30. If I sum these
30 returns I get

11.42 + 6.86 + 4.3 + 3.83 + 3.32 + 3.17 + 3.03 + 2.59 + 2.54 + 2.47 + 2.38 + 2.07 + 2.04 + 1.57 + 1.38 + 0.78 - 0.1 - 0.34 - 0.39 - 0.5 - 0.63 - 0.9 - 1.02 - 1.58 - 1.87 - 1.98 - 2.05 - 2.39 - 3.52 - 5.91

= -0.69
How do I reconcile -.69 vs 1.02 ? I am assuming I am purchasing equal $ amount of stock.

I would need to look further but the first number says ret% which means total return including dividends. And when you open the screen I see start price and end price. That likely doesn’t include dividends and is just price return. I would go with the first number for the actual return of the screen.

The AVERAGE of those numbers is 1.019.
