Um, I can't seem to rename any port or sim (used to be under "about" tab, then edit, etc.
That change is part of the release this morning. Click on the name of the port/sim and a properties page will be displayed where you can change the name.

A bit confusing still. We didn't spend too much time optimizing UX since Research section of the site will have to be redone soon. It's using an old technology which nobody uses anymore.
