IBD Buy/Sell signals

Has anyone kept a history of IBD Buy/Sell signals (2000 or so forward)? Today it switched to “Market in Correction”. I have been subscribing for a little over a year and they have been quite accurate. I tried to go back through the history of Big Picture commentary to compile a log but found it frustrating and gave up. If anyone has a history I would like to enter it into the P123 exposure list to test it. If not, I will participate with anyone wondering the same thing…we can divide up time-frames and search the history to figure them out.

Hi,
IBD just switched to Market Correction today?! If their record is any good I would think IBD would have the records and be willing to share if you contacted them and asked.

Don

The IBD “Market Pulse” Section within The Big Picture is the section of IBD that reports the daily Current Outlook: and whether “Market In Correction” or “Market In Confirmed Rally”.
Sorry to report but this “Market Pulse” section cannot be found In the IBD archives.

FWIW

Tuesday 10/28 signaled a follow through day as determined by this IBD method and the market is now in a confirmed rally.

According to the IBD/William O’Neil canon, for a follow through day to be valid we need to be on the 4th-7th day of an attempted rally. It looks to me like October 28th was the first day of an attempted rally.

This article will appear for one month only and shows IBDs confrimation of a confirmed rally

Capnpaul,

My apologies. I did not realize that the confirmed rally/follow-thru day call was IBD’s. Since it is their “system”, I guess they should know.

Regards,

Rob

It must be emphasized that their “follow through day” is far from a “buy signal”. Here are the important quotes from that article:

I’d like to know how many of their “follow-through” declarations failed to indicate a rally. They could simply keep making “follow-through” declarations until eventually the markets do turn up, in which case they can then claim that they were right.

Basically all I get from what they say is: A technical bottom may have formed, so keep watch; there may, or may not, be an upcoming rally.

OK you caught my error…of couse your right that a follow through isn’t the confirmation of a rally. The article should speak for my post as the Current Outlook states :Confirmed Rally"

Will the election spoil the change of trend?

The Exchanges/markets have been moving in concert since last Tuesday as depicted in the attached chart. What is of significance here (10:30 11/03/08) is how nicely the IWM / Russell 2000 is behaving.
