Is it possible to share stock factors?

I don’t see a way to allow a Research Group to access an imported stock factor. Am I missing something?

Currently, we can share imported stock factors. However, when using a shared imported factors, it gives an error (in for example a ranking system).

For example, I get:
In 'Country momentum'-> Stock Factor '$$COUNTRY_MOMENTUM_AVG' not found. If this Stock Factor was shared in a group, check the sharing settings of the item in which the Stock Factor is referenced.

I can see it in the group though.

I was able to duplicate the problem. The invited account can see the Stock Factor under the Shared category and can successfully download the Stock Factor data, yet is unable to use it. It's under review.

After looking at this more carefully, I was wrong to call it a bug. This is actually by design, and the sharing documentation explains it.

The key rule is: a shared resource can only be accessed from another resource that belongs to the same group. So even though $$COUNTRY_MOMENTUM_AVG is visible in the group, the ranking system that references it must also be assigned to that same group, otherwise it cannot access the stock factor.

The fix:

  • If you want the ranking system to be visible to other group members: set it to Group using the same group name as the stock factor.
