For a live model with automatic rebalance, rebalancing happens either around 4am Central every Monday or around 10:30pm Central every Sunday. Early Monday morning prior to EU markets open is not always the best option for me to enter my traders so I was wondering if I could prepare them during the weekend. Obviously the Factset update is the main issue here. Is there a specific moment during the day when it comes in or is it continuous? When does it happen on Sunday? Below the answer that I got from the P123 language GPT which suggest that it is continuous.
Since you're in Europe, and the Portfolio123 early rebalance runs at 10:30 PM Central (4:30 AM CET / 3:30 AM GMT on Monday), the challenge is to check for trade changes before the European market opens on Monday (which is around 9:00 AM CET / 8:00 AM GMT).
Optimal Workflow for Early Trade Preparation
Goal: Ensure accurate trade preparation before European markets open while minimizing the risk of discrepancies due to FactSet updates on Sunday.
Check the "Proposed Rebalance" Late Sunday Night (CET)
- Timing: Check between 11:00 PM - 12:00 AM CET (5:00-6:00 PM Central Time on Sunday).
- Why? By this time, most of FactSet's fundamental data updates for Sunday should be available.
- How? Go to your Portfolio → Rebalance → Proposed Rebalance to see the upcoming trades.
Compare It with the Latest Holdings & Rules
- Manually verify if any fundamental metrics affecting your buys/sells might still be subject to change (especially if you're using earnings-related factors).
Make Preliminary Trade Decisions
- If the proposed rebalance looks stable, you can start preparing trades for the European market.
- Mark trades that have a higher chance of being affected by late updates and be ready to verify them in the morning.
Quick Final Check Monday Before Market Open (CET)
- If possible, log in early Monday (7:30-8:00 AM CET) to do a quick refresh of the rebalance.
- If no new updates have been applied, you’re good to go.
- If the system shows new trades, you can quickly adjust before executing your European orders.
Summary of Your Best Timing (CET)
Time (CET) | Action |
---|---|
Sunday 11 PM - 12 AM | Check proposed rebalance (most FactSet updates should be in) |
Monday 7:30-8:00 AM | Quick final check (if possible) before European market opens at 9 AM |
If you can’t check on Monday morning, the Sunday late-night check is your best bet. Just be aware of potential last-minute FactSet updates.
