The 2023 performance for the two Numerai Hedge Funds just came out this morning.
Numerai One is down more than 17% for the year while Numerai Supreme is down more than 21%. Being one of the pioneer in the field, it just shows that AI/ML is not an automatic win in the market. There may be a dozen of reasons for the poor performance but my guess is probably overfitting and lack of sufficient cross validation.
