I would like to know if there is some method that I could use to filter my universe or screen to contain only optionable stocks? Preferably stocks with weekly options. I've looked through the factors and cannot find anything. I can always export and do the filter externally but this would be a nice factor(s) to have.
I looked at implementing this previously. I took the rules for optionable stocks in the US, and implemented them as best I could in a US Optionable screen in p123.
There are some rules, like the number of shareholders that I could not find a way to implement, but if I run the screen for today, it yields 3565 stocks, and stockanalysis.com shows 3587 optionable stocks, so I think as a heuristic it gets you pretty close in the absence of any true options data on p123.
Thanks! I found the list of stocks and etf's with weekly options here ( ~570 stocks) Weekly Options. I've tried to build a screen that would represent these but the best i can do is about a 70% match between the screen and the CBOE list.
