I created a new "Polls" forum category to hold all poll related posts. We'll keep polls informal for now and see if they gather momentum. Let us know your thoughts and suggestions.

Timeframe
Directional poll's timeframe will be between one week to one month for a more engaging and effective signal.
We should be able to extract knowledge out of polls, like confidence by weighting answers based on past results. We will only publish aggregate statistics, not highlighting any personal votes.
Privacy
Who voted and what they voted will be visible for now. Discourse offers other options which we'll investigate. The ideal option would be to reveal publicly who voted, but not what they voted.
You can reveal my votes and I wonder if P123 members might not prefer that in general. It gamifies it or makes it a competition which may encourage participation. In my case it would make for a great contrarian indicator—allowing members to make money doing the opposite of what I predict. But maybe they might want to follow someone else's predictions if they have a good record in the past..
Obviously if others feel differently you might hide their votes. But personally, I would even like you to keep track of my accuracy for me. So I don't have to make my own spreadsheet to do that.
Maybe you could make it optional but I am fine if you reveal my votes and even my voting history.
