Portfolio123 Is Going Global — Lock in a 30% Bonus

Dear P123 Member,

It's official! We’ve finally reached an agreement with FactSet to bring comprehensive global equity data to the platform, with the contract expected to be signed next week. We examined the sample data and it looked excellent. Once released, Portfolio123 will support three regions:

  • North America
  • Europe
  • Asia & Emerging Markets

The data is expected to be available for screening and backtesting in approximately 3–4 months, with full support across all Portfolio123 tools.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank those who have pledged in the Add Asian and Emerging Markets sponsored project. It directly enabled this milestone.

New 30% Bonus for Global Subscribers

To celebrate, we’re introducing a new 30% bonus for members who pledge and subscribe to all three regions when they become available. This offer is only valid via pledges and will no longer be available once the pledges are processed next week.

Final Opportunity to Update Your Pledge

If you’d like to change or retract your pledge, please do so by Thursday, February 19 at 10:00 AM EST. To update your pledge:

  1. Go to the original sponsored project post
  2. Edit or enter your pledge

If you plan to use global data, you may want to increase your pledge to take full advantage of this bonus. Because we are committing to a long-term data contract based on these pledges, pledges are non-refundable and will be applied towards your future Portfolio123 membership costs.

Example:

A $2,000 pledge with all three regions results in $2,600 total credit.

  • Year 1: $1,300 credit applied to your first annual membership after launch
  • Year 2: $1,300 credit applied to your second annual membership

For monthly memberships, the annual credit is applied evenly across each month. For the full terms of the pledges see the sponsored project.

Thank you again for your support. We look forward to welcoming you into this next chapter of Portfolio123.

Sincerely,
The Portfolio123 Team

Prior to applying the 30% bonus, what’s the % increase in price to go from two regions to three?

Great news! Thanks for the hard work.

Dear Team, thank you for your persistence with this. Much appreciated.

We will likely just keep the same "additional region fee" of 40%, so, for example, for a $1000 membership:

$1000 1 region
$1400 2 region
$1800 3 region

FYI: going global was a lot more expensive than anticipated. FactSet increased prices dramatically since we initially signed the single region contract. It almost doubled our data costs.

OK. Great. I’m in. Bumped up my earlier pledge to 2K. Do I need to do anything to lock in the 30% bonus now, or just expand from 1 to 3 regions in my account when the time comes?

That's it

Am I right in thinking that regardless of a pledge, our subscription plan doesn’t change unless we select a new plan?

The pledge will sit as a credit in your account until we release the Asian data. Once Asia is launched the pledge is activated and used towards memberships like this:

  • With 30% bonus if you have all three regions
  • With 20% bonus if you have Asia
  • With 0% bonus if you do not have Asia

In other words if you do nothing when Asia is launched we will use your pledge towards your regular membership with 0% the bonus. If you add Asian region a new cycle is started that will use the pledge according to the terms. Here's an example with made up numbers for simplicity:

You are on the 11th month of a $1200/year membership and you pledged $1000. The global version of your membership is $2000/year. If you upgrade to the global membership we will:

  1. Credit you $100 for the unused portion of your old membership.
  2. Deduct $500 from your pledge and credit you $650.
  3. Bill you the difference of $2000 - $100 -$650 = $1250 for twelve months.
  4. Your pledge credit becomes $500 which will be used on the next renewal.

Sounds about right. Let us know. Thanks

OK, thanks for this explanation. Very helpful.
