It would be extremely helpful if we could:
- rename our models
- allow much longer names than currently allowed
Thanks
It would be extremely helpful if we could:
On this topic, I find myself always running into the maximum name length for factor node names, ranking system names, and strategy names. Would be extremely helpful if each of those limits were raised.
In AI Factors, click on the model you want to rename to go to its overview page, then click the name at the top again and a box should pop up where you can rename it.
The small-print in orange made me wonder if it was that easy (i.e., ! Changing the name will bread the rules that use the factor). Maybe you are referring to a different page?:
I did not notice this until I read portoliologic's post. P123 has recently changed how we change names and I may be missing something.
Edit: As algoman says better below I would have to change the name in each of my models or the models will be broken (I think that's right). As a non-programmer, this is not necessarily a simple programming fix, I would guess. Creating an "alias" ( new_name = old_name, internally) has potential problems. If I forget and reuse the old name for a new AI feature. for example
I guess I will use "Save as" for now.
I may get why P123 might want to avoid aliasing if I understood any of this thread and the meaning of aliasing in programming.
Yes, it’s easy to change a name, but have to be careful.
Something I do miss is to see if an AI factor is used in a ranking system or a screener as you do with the Ranking system system overview list. I started to clean up unused AI factors, but it turned out be a much bigger job than I expected since I can’t easily see if I have used them in any ranking systems easily.
Yeah likewise, I've accidentally deleted one or two AI factors I shouldn't have because I didn't think they were being used, but I was actually indeed still using them.
