Summary Screen

Can someone explain how the "Gains" in the summary page is calculated? The unrealized, realized, and Dividends is all positive. The Total Value is greater then the Net Funding yet the gains is negative.

Might be due to timing of funds coming in. Would you have invested all funds in day 1, you should have losses. Likely you added funds when strategy was in a trough.

I am not sure why that would make a difference. My total value is greater then what I put in so it has to be a gain. What is the formula that they are using to calculate the gain?

The difference lies in time-weighted versus money-weighted returns. The actual dollar returns are money-weighted: you had larger gains when you had more money in the strategy. The gain percentage is time-weighted, and is measured as if you had never withdrawn or deposited funds. There's a pretty good explanation of the difference here: Starlight Capital - TWR vs MWR. But you can do some further research on the difference if you don't understand it: there has been a great deal written about it. If you're still puzzled, let me know!

P.S. I wrote an explanation of the difference in calculation here (scroll to "Total Return (CAGR)").

Thanks. That would explain it.
