This is undoudtedly the best automated, online stock portfolio development and trading tool available. I have tried them all and I ended using www.vectorvest.com for awhile.
The one consistent thing about the ‘also-rans’ is tha they do not provide a user-friendly, comprehensive means to undertanding and leveraging industry-standard fundamental analytical tools. Trust me. I can not wait until the technical analysis tools include stochastics and return/risk optimization! I feel that I can truly run my own momey confidently, cheaply and profitably.
I totally agree msawi.
By the way I tried vectorvest too. it can be implemented in p123 model in 15 minutes. In addition it can be back testested for any chosen period.

Just my opinion: What Vector vest does can be implemented with a P123 Ranking System in a couple of minutes. And P123 does thousands of other things that VectorVest does not.
Basically VecorVest has four main factor nodes - growth, value, financial risk and technical. And you are able to sort all trades stocks by these. While we do not know the exact factors and formulas used in VectorVest (proprietary technology - see P123 is open, only individuals can chose to keep systems private), we can guess by the names of theses 4 ranking nodes.
Actually it would be interesting for one to try to mimic VV here.
In the VV handbook it says about some pretty basic formulas used for getting the Value node. I do not remember about the others. Guessing from the overall level of sophistication of the product (no offense) I do not expect any rocket science there.
Don’t get me wrong. I think VV has it’s value and is a pretty simple tool to use. But there you have one single strategy as opposed to a tool that has a number of strategies already developed and tested, thousands new ones being contributed by the community and ability for you to develop more starting from scratch or from one that already has been started.
I completely agree with you msawi that portfolio123 is the best site as far as investing is stocks goes. And I hope that Marco and his company do succeed in making this a profitable business.
I am fairly new to investing and I was spending hours every day evaluating companies and searching for value in the market. Not only I was mentally tired, I was emotionally stressed as well making investment decisions. Since I started using portfolio123, finding good stocks to invest in is very easy and my confidence has skyrocketed. Best of all, I spare my emotions for more important things in my life (like family and friends)
I am a computer engineer and always believed that computers are the best tools for finding order out of extremely complex systems. Portfolio123 proves this again.
Thanks Mitko. Being a Computer Engineer as well, I could not agree more. What you describe is pretty much the motivation I had to develop P123. Initially everything was a bunch of perl scripts, the website came much later. Cheers.
