I am trying to understand how actuals really work. I understand that these are financial data that come from sources different than financial statements (press releases etc) and may present differences to the official statements.
However, as you can see on this photo (MSFT), the PIT actual data is updated at the same time than the data from the financial statements. Aren’t Actuals suppose to be more timely than GAAP data? Shouldn’t we expect updates at different time for both timeseries?
Fundamental Chart plots weekly data points, so you will have to use a different tool to observe differences. Note also that financials have weekly resolution, so the difference may be further obfuscated.
For MSFT, our effective date for the actuals is 2025-10-29 22:03, and our effective date for the financials is 2025-10-31 03:08. Use a screen to compare @eps:EPSExclXorQ and @epsact:Actual(#EPS, 0, QTR) for MSFT on 10/31/2025. While I was looking into this, I noticed that estimates and actuals were being exposed a day later in the context of daily historical usage, (i.e., daily simulations and weekday screens). This does not affect current behavior, (i.e., live strategy and current screen). We'll be deploying a change so that the actuals are available on the correct date, (in this case, 10/30/2025).
Thanks for your answer, I understand better now that the delay between actuals and official data must be quite short (less than a week) which means that the difference in timeliness is not visible on the fundamental chart plots which has weekly resolution.
Is there a way to visualize on a daily resolution (like fundamental chart on daily resolution), or do we have to pass by the screener?
