Uploading Data Series does not work

When uploading a data series with correct date format selection produces error message:
First column does not contain a date in the specified format

This happens also when one downloads an existing data series and then uploading it again without changing anything.

Please fix.

That’s a new error. I updated a series yesterday (03/25/2023).

The download currently uses mm/dd/yyyy format for the date and includes a header row

But default the import data uses yyyy-mm-dd and does not have header row checked.

We’ll make the download & upload use the same defaults:

Date: yyyy-mm-dd
Include header row: yes

I used yyyy-mm-dd to upload csv file. Still does not work.

I just reran one of my files and it worked for me. The format is;

date,ticker,value,uid
2023-03-25,osg:USA,0

I don’t know if it makes a difference but just be sure to select the date column and format it as date. I think sometimes there are rows thrown in that are formatted as ‘text’ or ‘general’ or something and it messes things up.

You have to use exactly the format of the csv. Is the csv using yyyy-mm-dd ?

Can you attach the csv?

PS. my post before had some typos. I was just explaining the problem which is that the downloaded csv does not match the defaults used by the import. You have to match it manually

This is the 6-month smoothed annual growth rate (with 2.35 added) of the Conference Board Leading Economic Index for the USA. When it goes below zero it has always signaled a recession since 1969.

Upload this into a Data Series and use it to time the exit and entry into the S&P500.

We currently do no support importing dates on or before 1970-01-01. It worked after I deleted anything older than 1970-01-02

It’s a silly legacy restriction. We’ll see about fixing it or at least giving a better error message

Thanks for checking this. Previously there was no problem uploading earlier dates. Anyway, we can only use it from 1999 on data at P123.
