COMING NEXT WEEK: a new Portfolio123 !

tedb - I calculate performance of some of my live Portfolios on Tuesday every week in an excel spreadsheet. To do this I download and copy the following:

  1. Performance listing in excel sheet
  2. All Transactions in excel sheet
  3. Current Holdings in excel sheet
  4. Copy and paste: Statistics - Trading

Each of these has a unique web address with port ID
For example for Best12(USMV)-Oct-2014 (http://www.portfolio123.com/port_summary.jsp?portid=1229906) I need the following:
https://www.portfolio123.com/performance.jsp?portid=1229906
https://www.portfolio123.com/transact_list.jsp?portid=1229906
https://www.portfolio123.com/holdings.jsp?portid=1229906
https://www.portfolio123.com/trans_analysis.jsp?portid=1229906

All of these hyperlinks were directly accessible from excel by clicking on the web address. Now this does not work anymore.

Then in excel the weekly report and chart is automatically produced as shown below.

The preference setting for “Hide Categories by default” does not have any effect. I would prefer to have the categories hidden by default in port & sim view otherwise I have constantly keep on trying to hide them every time I come back to display the sim or port list.

Actually I am having the reverse problem. My sidebars with the live portfolio folders keep on hiding so I have to open them first to chose the next live port for rebalancing. Once I rebalance, the sidebar is gone again and it is cumbersome to switch between ports.

Also, if my ports have long names, the side bar takes up almost half of my screen. This could be optimized by line wrapping long names.

On a different note, I suggest P123 adds a functionality where I can select multiple ports and then rebalance all at once. I am running >30 live ports, and I need to rebalance them first, before I rebalance my >5 live books.

I have a request for one small easy tweak to make life easier: Please “Show Hide Categories” with one click. The standard icon to open up a pane on the left is “>>” and to hide them “<<”.

Thanks.

Chipper, you can directly click on the sidebar (“Toggle sidebar”) and it will appear. you don’t need to use the drop down menu

[/quote]Got it. Thanks!

P123 - thank you for re-establishing “Simulation - Convert to Portfolio”.

It would be nice in our personal preferences to make ‘Show Hide Categories’ always on (for just myself). Much like Showing or Hiding Help can be switched.

couldn’t see the links in your images. What are you trying to accomplish with the links? Do you need to be able to download something other than what’s currently accessible from a browser?

I would like for convenience to access the various P123 web-pages directly from my excel sheet without going to the portfolio Summary page first. The links I use are are typically:
https://www.portfolio123.com/performance.jsp?portid=xxxxxxx
https://www.portfolio123.com/transact_list.jsp?portid=xxxxxxx
https://www.portfolio123.com/holdings.jsp?portid=xxxxxxx
https://www.portfolio123.com/trans_analysis.jsp?portid=xxxxxxx

Since we have the new interface these links do not link to the P123 web-pages anymore if you click on them in the excel sheet, even if one is logged in. Of course if you pop them into your browser they will open.
Thanks for investigating.

Also I can’t find the “Print” button to print “Summary” and “Trading System”

EDIT 1: I posted the wrong picture. How does one remove the first picture?

P123: Thank you for the print button, now found in the top right hand corner of the web-page next to the close port cross.

Marco-
On the new home page there is a box of tickers called “Popular with Our Users”.
Can I presume that these are the top 20 or so tickers held by the most number of P123 portfolios?
Are these from portfolios that are both “public” and “private”?
How often is this list refreshed? Daily? Weekly? Occassionally?
I am thinking about using these tickers as input in a portfolio.

Whoops.
You don’t have to answer my post above. I see where the most widely held tickers come from.
Portfolio>Utilities>Search Holdings>Most Popular.

But that brings up another question.
When I go to most popular I get a choice of three buttons: “My models”, “P123 models” and “All Users”
Intuitively, “All Users” should aggregate “My Models” and “P123 Models”, but it does not. The numbers are quite different between “P123 Models” and “All Users”.
Can you tell me the difference betwee “P1123 Models” and “All Users”?
-Bob

Again, you don’t have to answer the post above.
I figured out the answer to my question. P123 Models are the ones created by P123, which you can get to by going to Portfolio>P123 Live.

But now I have another question.
Where do I find “My Account” which posted the returns of all my ports and posted the ranking of P123 winning ports for the last week, month, and year?
-Bob

HI Bob,

The my account pages may have gotten too fragmented. I think the page you’re looking for is under the user-icon top menu on the right then SETTINGS > Preferences.

On that page I think the sample weekly performance report is what you’re looing for.

ted

Thanks Ted.
It was there.

Another question for Ted or anyone.
Can I create a port and do manual buying and selling each Monday?
It would be a way of paper trading. P123 would keep track of gains and losses.
-Bob

I am not a fan of the Popular with Our Users feature. It would be one thing if P123 were a free service, but P123 is a paid service. Only details authorized by users should be shared. Data not expressly made public, even if only in aggregate, should not be disclosed. Does P123 consider this data as belonging to the users or to P123?

You don’t need to answer my question above.
I figured out how to create a manual portfolio so P123 keeps track of gains and losses.
