Important features or restrictions
- You can screen, backtest, and rank using global universes.
- You cannot register as a new user on the beta server.
- Your changes are saved on a separate database than production.
- Your changes will be not be copied over to production and will be lost.
- Only paying users as of 8/17/2026 will be able to access the Research section.
- You have access to all three regions regardless of your current subscription.
- No AI environment and no API access.
- Global data is updated daily at 10PM and 3AM.
- Beta server will be available at no extra costs until production release.
Primary & Foreign Primary refresher
The "Primary" classification comes from FactSet, and it indicates whether a particular issue is the main trading vehicle for an entity. Foreign Primary is a P123 artifact where we identify the main issue for a company in an exchange other than their country of origin.
For ranking and relative comparisons, it is always preferable to use Primary stock data since it is more complete and is not affected by currency. In other words, if you want to compare Samsung to Micron, you should use ratios derived from their primary issues: MU:USA and 005930:KOR.
NOTE: We are preserving the universes with Foreign Primaries in the USA only, but other FP universes are deprecated.
Universe Changes
The most important change is with the universe picker. It's gone through some reorganization, and you will see many new categories and universes. All new universes are made up of Primary issues.
Asia Pacific
These are Asian countries universes (either a single country or a group) made up of Primary Asian stocks. The only one slightly different is China A-Shares which is made up of Chinese companies with issues that trade either in mainland China or Hong Kong
Primary Other
These are country specific universes for medium sized countries made up of stocks domiciled in those countries. For smaller country universes you can create your own custom universes.
Trades In
These universes are built using a new function TradesIn("cid, cid, ..."). They are useful for ranking global primaries that trade in a specific country. For example, the universe "Trades In Germany" only compares global companies that trade in German exchanges. A global subscription will be required to use these universes.
Multi-region
These are universes that span multiple geographical regions. In this section, you will find universes like Global and North Atlantic.
